How to Use Puppy Training Pads
Getting a new puppy is a very exciting experience, but puppy potty training really is not. The old practice of paper training is effective in teaching your puppy, but it is less than sanitary; quite the contrary, it is very smelly and messy, and can ruin your floors. A new innovation, pet training pads, works as well as newspapers for the puppy potty training part of the task, but saves your floors and does away with the lion’s share of the odors as well.
Puppy House Training with Pet Training Pads
Using these “piddle pads” is easy. Place one on the floor, using a size that is appropriate for the size of your dog. Show your puppy the pad, and when you see him exhibiting signs that he is looking for a place to potty, or when he starts to squat in the house, quickly move him to his piddle pads. When he uses the pad appropriately, give him lots of positive reinforcement and praise.
Once your puppy is showing signs of understanding the purpose of his pet training pads, begin moving your pads closer to the door. Go slowly in this process, so your puppy does not get confused. Each time he proves that he still understands, you can move it a little closer until it is right by the door. Once he is using his puppy pads regularly next to the door, move them outside, and make sure he knows they are there. With a little help and a little practice, he will soon understand that he must ask to go outside and your puppy house training will be a success.
Piddle Pads Protect Your Floor
Because pet training pads are made out of absorbent material with a waterproof back, the urine soaks into the pad and becomes trapped. The waterproof back keeps it from soaking through and harming your floors. This, in turn, prevents your home from developing odors as well. Puppy house training can have a lasting effect on your floors; this is drastically reduced, if not eliminated, by these pads.
Make Puppy Potty Training a Positive Experience
Remember that puppy potty training does not necessarily mean spending a lot of time saying “no” or “bad dog.” For instance, if you do not see your dog pee or poop somewhere he is not supposed to, it is no use correcting him. He will not put together the action with your reaction. On the other hand, when you see him do something right, he will respond to your praises and repeat his actions.
Every Puppy House Training Experience is Different
Remember that no two dogs are alike. They learn differently, and some will take longer than others. Be patient and be diligent. You have this one chance to teach your dog the right way to take care of his bodily functions. Puppy Training Pads will help.
